Springville, UT – 13 September 2024 – Fathom Radar has announced it is taking orders for its first-of-its-kind radar sensor designed to reliably and accurately determine capacity levels in RV water and waste tanks. The OEM device is being marketed to RV manufacturers and is set to completely change the way RV owners interact with these tanks.
Imagine traveling in a recreation vehicle and having no idea what the levels are in your water and waste tanks. Perhaps the tank capacity displays are simply not providing data; or worse, the displays indicate everything is fine when they are not. Not knowing the true status of your tanks can turn your dream vacation into a nightmare.
“The traditional technologies used to monitor RV tank levels are well-known to be unreliable,” says Kyle Paxman, product manager for Fathom Radar. “This is a pain point that thousands of dedicated RV owners face every time they travel.”
The Fathom RV Tank Radar detects fluid levels from outside the tank. It utilizes radar technologies developed by parent company Wavetronix, the world leader in radar for traffic vehicle detection. The sensor measures fluid levels in all plastic holding tanks to within .25 cm and is designed to withstand the extreme temperatures and road vibrations typical with RVing.
“The environment where these sensors operate is extremely challenging, especially for electronic systems. Moisture, dirt, and other corrosive elements lead many of these devices to fail,” Paxman says. “Fathom is designed to withstand these elements, but more importantly, it is designed to maintain accuracy over time. A prototype sensor was unveiled at the 2023 Elkhart Open House Supplier Show to great success. Visitors to the 2024 show in Elkhart (23 – 25 September) will find Fathom Radar at booth 114 and will be able to see a demonstration of its performance and exactly how the sensor works with the RV industry’s most widely used RV-C touchscreen controllers.
